I think that its alright for students to work part-time . During the school holidays , students will tend to spend more as they would like to buy clothes and things for their personal uses .
As we mature , we children somehow do not want to rely too much on our parents and wants to be independent . We are growing and we will need the money for our own playtime . For example going to the arcade to chill out with friends , or going to snookeriums , escape theme park and many others . Having using our own saved or hard worked money feels different from spending our parents given money . from my point of view , i will feel that i have accomplished something and its all worth my hard work , I can now just spend my money wherever and whenever i like .
Usually parents and teachers do not encourage this because firstly , it might affect our studies even though its a holiday . We might start knowing some bad friends and bad with them . Secondly , earning money now is not our first priority and we should focus on our studies . There will always be a chance for us to work when we grow up that is what parents usually will tell us . Thirdly , its our time to enjoy , parents would wants us to play and get back to the mood one month before school starts . There are many reasons , depends on individual .
there is a good and bad side for everything and anything . This is no exception . But even as a student as well , i think its advisable not to work when we are in secondary three as its a very important period of time for us and there is not time waste . O levels are coming up so soon ! After our O levels , we can even work for a long period of time . three months if I’m not wrong . Last year i worked as a sales assistant , it was not as good as expected although I learnt a lot of things about management and more , it was very tiring . There were shifts and alternate off days but it makes only a slight differences . I now understand the importance of having a good education if i do not want to work at such a place when i grow up and i definitely want a higher salary ! :D
